The 43rd Annual New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) Supplier Day came to a successful conclusion at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. Showcasing the latest raw materials, ingredients, formulations and technical innovations, the event attracted 7805 attendees representing 55 countries. The exhibition floor had 448 exhibitors with a 17% increase in net square footage, including nearly 100 new exhibitors and dozens of new product announcements.
“The enthusiasm and excitement for Supplier Day was evident throughout the Javits Center. Everyone was eager to meet in person and get back to business, as well as learn about the latest industry trends and advancements,” said Giorgio Dell’Acquapresident of the NYSCC.
The quality of participation and engagement as well as the focus on sustainability during Suppliers’ Day were also praised by exhibitors. “I’ve been going to vendor day for over 35 years, this one is special, to finally connect in person. Also, there’s so much innovation in the industry now and every vendor and booth is thinking about sustainability, it’s a big push in the industry and consumers are pushing it as much as brands,said Scott Tuchinsky, Consumer Care Business Manager, North America, Croda.

60 hours of educational program
With more than 60 hours of programming, the Supplier Day educational program had something to offer everyone involved in the industry. Sessions in the presentation theater included exploring sustainability, the world of chemistry, IBA regulatory and compliance update, and exhibit space innovations that highlighted some dozens of new product announcements that were made at the event.
Digital Age of Beauty returned with presentations on digital tools and innovative technologies that influence product development, including AI, virtual reality and a presentation on “The Good Face App – Where Consumers Drive R&D”. Microbiome: Inside Out Beauty featured the Skin Trust Club, a unique skin health tracking app powered by Labskin and included a talk by Dr. Elsa Jungman of ELSI Skin Health, America’s first microbiome-friendly consumer brand. The INDIE 360 program covered all aspects of starting and sustaining a brand and featured founders Dr. Brent Ridge, Beekman 1802 and Stephanie Lee of Selfmade.
Two advanced courses were specifically organized by the NYSCC Scientific Advisory Board and delved into in vitro modeling to predict clinical outcomes as well as natural dyes. Lunch & Learn on hair: textured, curly, straight? What do you want to know! was on its feet and PCPC and IKW presented their popular course on Essentials of Cosmetics Regulation, Safety Assessment and Quality Assurance. For the first time, there was a poster pavilion with scheduled session times with the authors for attendees to learn about skincare, cleanliness and ecology, CBD, sustainability and other relevant topics.
Virtual Supplier Day
Launched on Monday, May 9, Virtual Supplier Day attracted hundreds of new attendees. For attendees on-site at the Javits Center, it was also an opportunity to re-watch with exhibitors or capture content they might have missed during show days.
Plans are already underway for the NYSCC Supplier Day 2023 will be held May 2-3, again at the Javits Centerwith more than 80% of exhibitors already resigning.
