Tunde Oyeneyin is one of the best instructors in Peloton. If you are a fan of the workout program, you probably have took one of his lessons before and I know her for her energy, her contagious smile and shiny lipstick. What you might not know about her is that before being a fitness trainer, she was a makeup artist – for 16 years.
Oyeneyin knew from an early age that she wanted to be a teacher, but not necessarily in school. After attending cosmetology school, she ended up working as a branded educator, but part of her heart always belonged to training, and she dreamed of being a fitness instructor. “I just thought it was too cool, but I always said, ‘This is something I’ll do when I retire. Someday when I retire, I’ll go and give a nice little one. classes a few times a week, ‘”she told POPSUGAR. All it took was a cycling lesson (his very first) while on a business trip to New York to change his mind. “At the end of this 45 minute experience, I knew I would be riding a bike for the rest of my life.”
She worked as a traveling makeup artist by day and a cycling instructor by night. “It literally rekindled my soul every night,” Oyeneyin said. It was difficult, but “if something is important to you, you will find a way to make it happen.” After a few years, she decided to work full time.
As important as the career change from makeup professional to fitness instructor is, Oyeneyin said it was actually a very natural transition. “So much the same elements are infused into both worlds,” she said. “I took up make-up because I loved to give people confidence. Being on the bike gives me the same joy. Both give me the opportunity to improve people’s lives.”
